METHOD USED

 Our method is based on the results of major international study results and on other significant risk factors that have been published, not included in those study programs.

Our method is updated continuously and modified according to results of international studies.

 In general, when a patient goes for a specialist visit, the doctor provides him with a cardiovascular prevention program and asks him to give his consent to information concerning the assessments he will be following. On the other hand, those who are not able, or who feel that it is not yet necessary to visit a specialist, can obtain help from their general practitioner and carry out the tests online using the information and calculators provided in this site.

Patients are asked to fill out a standard questionnaire. A prescription is delivered for a blood sample for certain blood tests.

A coronary calcium scan, and evaluation of the carotid intima media thickness CIMT, are excellent methods for screening asymptomatic patients, and together they form the main test to determine Atherosclerosis.

La The study and quantification of coronary atherosclerotic lesions (Calcium Score Index), is performed through multilayer cardiac CT scanning (64 slides), while carotid studies are diagnosed based on sonographic method, measuring the carotid intima media thickness (CIMT). The results are then entered in a database the generates the final score, the ATS test.

The scores relating to the single risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, obtained from the questionnaire and the blood test results will in turn be entered in a database that provides the final score: the (RF TEST).

Dalla From the combination of the two tests it is possible to obtain the semi-quantitative estimate of the probability of a major cardiovascular event that the patient under examination will face in the ten years following the assessment (death or myocardial infarction, stroke). See " Test interpretation".

The results can be entered directly by the user in the test area, or sent to Cardiovascularprevention.com, who will enter the data for the user, and will then send back the results and the appropriate interpretation and advice.

On request, an assessment of a 5-year cardiovascular risk can also be made, with a negative predictive value equal to 99%.

The results will inform the patient of the need to:

- undergo further tests;

- undergo specific therapy, either medical and/or surgical;

- follow a health and diet program;

- set up a regular check-up program;

- be hospitalized in a specialist ward if necessary;

- other customised situations that permit us to follow the patient’s progress until his cardiovascular problems have been solved.
