CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE PREVENTION
Identifying patients at risk (Vulnerable)

Primordial prevention

This consists in adopting a life-style that will prevent the onset of risk factors: exercise, Mediterranean diet, keeping weight under control, controlling stress caused by psychological and social factors, identifying risk factors according to family history.

Primary prevention

Treat the risk factors before any forms of cardiovascular symptoms appear: fats in the blood (Cholesterol and Triglycerides), High blood pressure, diabetes, stop smoking, in addition to any primordial prevention.

Secondary prevention

This consists in strongly attacking all the risk factors present in a person who has already suffered a heart attack, , stroke, angina pectoris, peripheral vascular disease, aortic aneurism. This can be through pharmacological treatment using ACE Inhibitors, statins, antiplatelet therapy, Beta-blockers, omega-3 fatty acids, as well as rehabilitation and primordial prevention.
